Mindset, the straight edge hardcore punk outfit from Baltimore, announced last week that they are going to call it quits, which will see them just past their 8th anniversary as a band. Much like Bane have done this year, they have thought this through collectively as a band, and have decided to release a final 7” record which will carry 3 tracks and will be titled ‘Nothing Less’. The plan is for the EP to be released via React! records in February 2016.
Mindset are currently playing shows until the end of 2015, and they are putting together a final tour schedule to coincide and support the release of the final record. In a statement released via the band, vocalist Ev Wivell had this to say; “We’ve always been very meticulous in how we operate as a band and this final chapter is no different. This is something we've been planning for a long time. We're proud of what we've built together and we're excited to share these last songs and go out on a high note. We've created a final tour schedule that will allow us to play some of our favorite places one last time, and hit a few that we've been neglecting, so keep your ear to the ground for details to be announced.”
Always a shame when a good band goes, but they always do. Eventually. Here’s to keeping everything crossed for some European/UK dates on their final tour schedule. Ieperfest, I’m looking at you!!
“Foundations crumble. Structures rust.
I'd rather be ashes than a pile of dust.”
