Chicago Post-Rock instrumentalists Pelican, along with Hydrahead Records, have repressed their third album ‘City Of Echoes’, making it once again available on vinyl for the first time since its initial release in 2007. The album saw the band move into a more accessible, mainstream direction, creating tracks that felt more self contained as opposed to the sprawling soundscapes of previous album ‘The Fire In Our Throats…’. However, the album was regarded at the time as featuring some of the best Pelican guitar work to date, and has remained a solid favourite for many Pelican fans. This step towards accessibility also saw them trim the album down to a mere 45 minutes. As such the original pressing of the album was the only Pelican record that fit onto a single piece of vinyl. The repress sees the band address this discrepancy by expanding the album onto 2 LP's, the second of which will include a live set recorded in Wroclaw, Poland from their 2007 tour to support ‘City Of Echoes’, which has been cleaned up and tweaked for this record.
The album comes in three colourways - black, white, and a lush looking Black/Blue swirl, which echoes the iconic artwork. The record is available to order now from Hydrahead HERE
